How much cloth do I need? A simple guide to unstitched lengths
One of the most common questions about unstitched cloth is simple: how much will I need? The answer depends on the garment, the cut and the width of the fabric, so treat these as sensible starting points and always confirm with your tailor.
Women's suits
A three-piece suit usually includes about 2.5 metres for the shirt, 2.5 metres for the trouser and 2.5 metres for the dupatta, around 7.5 metres in total. A two-piece, shirt and trouser, is typically 5 metres. A longer shirt, a flared hem or a fuller sleeve can need a little more.
A few tips
Check the width of the fabric as well as the length, because narrower cloth needs more length. Patterned cloth, such as stripes, checks and large motifs, needs extra for matching. When in doubt, speak to your tailor before you order, or write to the studio and we will help.
